Beer... It's KNOT just an apres climb beverage!

Beer... That beverage that most of us can agree puts the final touch to a good day of climbing, well it's not just for apres climb... or should I say "Knot" just for after the climb. What is it that I'm make referencing to? The Beer knot of course! The Beer knot is a bend used to tie a loop in tubular webbing to form a sling. It has a similar structure to the Water knot. Compared to the Water knot it boasts a higher strength (up to 80%, compared to 60-70% for the Water knot), a cleaner…See More

With that said, it’s no wonder I was out on an ice climb with my good friend Kevin and found myself asking “That Question”… yes, the question that bridges all disciplines of Climbing, Skiing, and other mountain sports: “What the HELL am I doing here in these conditions!” Yes, conditions turned “Interesting”, one might even describe them as “spicy”…See More

Rappel Rings... What's on your anchor?

There’s nothing like winter to get the climbing community out of the sport crags and away from those beautiful chain and/or double ring bolt anchors we all love to rappel off of… or abseil for the Brits in the crowd.Yes, winter is that time where most of our rappel anchors are either the Russian Abalakov (aka. v-thread, ice hourglass, the ‘I’ll-be-backing-off”), or a tree/bolt/pin anchors with sling and rap rings. When it comes to rappel rings there are a number of different options one can…See More

Hi Brenden,

Great action photos! Are they recent or from your library...if you have been out recently maybe a little update on conditions for folks would be helpful. I know that I am hoping to go out this week for the first time this year.
